I am a firm believer that children need to be active in order to do their best learning. Having flexible seating in the classroom is one way to keep children active and engaged. As growing individuals, every child works and learns differently.
The best thing about creating this environment is that students are engaged, behavior issues are minimal, learning is happening and academic scores are improving!!
Fifth grade is a time for a lot of change: physically, socially, and emotionally. By allowing them to choose different seating and work options in the classroom, I hope to have them gain understanding of themselves as learners. My goal is to create a classroom that are consistent with brain research, and the needs of children in the 21st century.
