Our classroom community is one that is diverse and inclusive of students of varying ages and abilities. Regardless, each and every one of them exhibit curiosity and what better way to simulate their senses then through Sensory Play Experiences!
Sensory Play allow students increased development in multiple areas during hands-on experiences that facilitate exploration and naturally inspire the use of scientific processes all while they "play".
While the benefits of this type of "play" are endless, our yearly budget tends not to comprise of supporting such materials, as it is often used for consumables and basic classroom needs. The specific materials that I am requesting are textured play materials which are created of varying materials that provide the students with provide their tactile senses with hard and bumpy, soft and pliable, and sandy and smooth. I have also requested magic marbles that come dehydrated and grow into soft, squishy little balls when water is added. Finally, I have requested feel & find materials for students stimulate multiple senses while searching for hidden number letters and shapes. To contain all the materials and provide students with
In having the ability to incorporate such materials will not only benefit my students' language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, social interaction, but it will provide students' with a great way to explore the world they live in through STEAM Education!
