I have been a school therapist for over 16 years, working with the public children from ages 3-22. Over the years I come to realize that not only kids referred to school physical therapy could benefit but most of the children in general education can benefit from our services. As the children become less active we are noticing the re-percussion of this at a school level. Examples are poor behavior, decreased attention, poor social skill, and the list goes on. As we work with the whole population of children we have noticed the children struggling as listed above also have poor body awareness and balance/coordination. Children are not getting exposed to the important skills we learn through play.
