Our school is a Title I public school in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. We are extremely ethnically and linguistically diverse with over 21 languages spoken among the families in our school. Our academic success has steadily improved year after year thanks to our focus on student centered learning, personalization, critical thinking and social justice curriculum.
This year my kinder and first graders have trained hard to be "superheroes" of KINDNESS & EMPATHY. The goal all year as been to learn about and understand different cultures, to develop empathy for others and to empower them to work to spread kindness to improve our community and world.
This group of students showed flexibility, creativeness and resilience as they worked, learned and developed a bond despite the virtual setting.
