The student population at our school is approximately 676, serving Pre-K -5th grade and as the Librarian Teacher/Media Specialist I have the pleasure of working with all of our students. Our school is a Title 1 school and approximately 98% of our students are on free or reduced lunch program. Many of our students do not have access to technology or other creative outlets at home. As the Librarian Teacher/Media Specialist I have been working on introducing Maker Space into our Media Center by creating activities which allows our students to explore their artistic creativity, critical thinking, technological interest and help inspire wonder through STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics).In our Media Center we have mini iPads, which students use to research, create projects, access eBooks, coding apps, and educational apps. During the Hour of Code Challenge our students loved coding and every chance they get they want to code during our Maker Space activities.

About my class
