The school at which I teach is one of the lowest in socioeconomic status in one of the largest counties in the state. Needless to say, our students come from some very challenging backgrounds, and their stories are varied and often times tragic. Despite the difficulties that the students face on a regular basis, we all work hard. The passion and drive of the students, teachers, and administration, has not only led to success, it has led to our school having some of the best scores in the county. The students are constantly working against their background, and they often don't have the tools at their disposal that can lead to increased success. And, since funding for education is difficult to come by, we have a limited ability in getting these tools to the students. I have purchased by own tablet in order to assist those students when I can, but I learned quickly that my one piece of technology is vastly insufficient. I have so many students in need of an in-classroom research tool.
