Last year, I watched my students get discouraged picking out books from our Spanish library because there were very few options. This project would make a HUGE difference in my students' learning.
In first grade, students should read over 100 books throughout the year so a large library with a variety of levels and topics is essential to not only help students develop a love for reading, but also a love for Spanish.
If this project is funded, my classroom library will gain more than FIFTY new books including titles such as ¿Dónde viven los animales?, Boris se mantiene en forma, and La princesa y el guisante. I have spent hours choosing books at many different reading levels, books that have popular characters, and books that are authentic Spanish texts.
