We are requesting books and other resources to support our mindfulness work and our work to develop kindness. Students will be working on developing empathy through learning about putting themselves into others shoes and by doing service projects for others.
We will be using literature on the list to teach concepts about empathy and then will do a service project to back up the learning. Some examples of projects are: helping animals at animal shelter, making art for retirement home, making book marks for the library, etc.
The hope is that this could evolve into a service club that meets and does service for the school and the community on a regular basis. Students will be learning the characteristic of service and the life skill of empathy.
