The supplies in this project will help me to create inquiry-based learning opportunities and activities for our geometry class. When students can discover new concepts, theorems, and laws on their own, they achieve a much higher level of conceptual understanding. The integration of visual and kinesthetic learning tools makes the content much easier to understand for all students, especially those with learning disabilities or those who are English Language Learners. It also helps to make learning much more fun and accessible to those students still struggling with foundational math skills. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. The supplies of this project will be directly put to use in various exploration activities. The colored paper, markers, compasses, and scotch tape will be used by students to explore congruent angles and other shapes, leading them to discover things like CPCTC and the Angle Sum Theorem for triangles. The demonstration compass serves to model geometric construction while the students use their own compasses on their explorations. The white boards and markers will be used to help guide students through explorations in coordinate geometry, and the play-doh will help students to model 3D objects and examine their cross sections. My students will use the folders to organize their explorations after they are completed, and the magnetic clips will be used to display exemplary student work.
