My middle school, special education students are in need of high interest, low reading level novels that "look" like the types of books their peers are reading. My students will often "pretend" to read during independent reading time within the general education setting because they are afraid of being judged by their peers. This also occurs because their classroom library lacks books of interest that are on their reading levels. These materials will allow my students to read at their ability level, while boosting their confidence and skills. Statics show that productive reading for just 15 minutes a day can accelerate reading gains!
