Oh, Kindergarten! We are always a dynamic group full of many different learning styles and personalities. This year I will receive an incoming group of 25 students, 13 of which hold IEP's ( idividualized education plans) due to speech impairments, learning disabilities, behavior, etc. Regardless of where these kids begin, my main drive as a kindergarten teacher is to foster a love reading so that these kids leave kindergarten with a solid foundation of literacy skills, competence, confidence, and a love to seek out new knowledge within a book!
My favorite thing about kindergarten students is their love of learning. Their sense of elation when something "clicks" and how they take new learning and run with! This year I am ready to make our classroom library the focal point of our classroom. The heart center of our learning! I am determined to refresh, revamp, and reclaim the most sacred space in a classroom!
