My students will use the individual sewing kits and felt to learn how to sew. Our sewing unit will focus on repair of common issues like torn seams, lost buttons, and making a patch. Students will also learn how to make a change-purse using the provided felt.
As a teacher, the material thing my students ask me to help with the most is repairing fabric items like backpacks, purses, and clothing. Teaching my students how to do this themselves not only helps them to save money, but empowers them to solve problems in the future when I'm not there anymore.
I'm excited to be able to continue to teach my students this valuable skill remotely with at-home sewing kits.
