Kids Cooking for Life is a local non-profit organization that teaches nutrition, cooking and other related independent living skills to Bay Area youth. Using their knowledge and experience in science, nutrition, culinary arts, agriculture and education, trained instructors educate children of all ages. This organization also has instructors with decades of experience teaching in the Special Education field. Last year, our own district’s Tamalpais High School CEC implemented this program with extraordinary success as well as San Rafael High School’s Special Day Class program. A huge plus is that our funds go towards the funding of this program in schools and regions that may not be able to afford the full cost. Once a week, the KCL instructor will arrive with everything we need to complete 1-2 recipes. They arrive with groceries, tools, school-safe equipment , reading materials and amazing enthusiasm.
The introduction of nutrition and culinary skills in an adolescent classroom goes a long way; In a classroom where "needs" are based on survival and independent living, this class will uplift our students and contribute to their health over the course of their lifetime.
We have already confirmed that a retired Special Education teacher was hand chosen for your classroom, so we know that this project will be extremely progressive and therapeutic for our students. We thank you so much for your support!
