Our Biomedical students train throughout the year to compete in healthcare and leadership events such as Nurse Assisting, Basic Life Support (healthcare providers CPR/AED/FirstAid), Healthcare Knowledge Bowl, Medical Terminology, Medical Math, Job Interview, Prepared Speech, and Extemporaneous Speech.
As preparation for the healthcare careers they hope to someday acquire, students undergo an anatomy and physiology sequence which requires dissection and exploration of mammalian systems.
Anything you would be willing to contribute would greatly aid us in our endeavor to purchase supplies for our classroom that will allow us to engage in these pre-surgical practices. Our class size is growing, and while this is an exciting opportunity I am now able to provide to more deserving students, it has also left us short supplied. We are asking for additional vinyl lined dissection trays, scalpels, surgical scissors, and pins to supplement and/or replace the older and dull-edged tools we were previously using.
"Tell me and I'll forget.
Teach me and I'll remember.
Involve me and I'll learn."
-B. Franklin
Instruction is far more valuable when each student may participate rather than work in a larger group with less time to interact with the lab subjects.
Thank you for considering making a donation to our class!
