Transitioning to the hybrid model where half of the class is at home and the other half is in person, has been a struggle for all of us. The most difficult part of this model is keeping our classroom connected. The virtual students will be connected with Zoom, but the in-seat students will be disconnected, as our system does not have the capacity to hold all the students online. One way I am working to keep connected is by using a backchannel chat that can be used by ALL students, those in class and those at home. Another way I would like to connect students is by using the OWL Meeting Pro. The Owl is a 360-degree camera that can redirect to the action, and pick up the sound of a distant speaker. This will allow all students, no matter their location, to connect with one another. Without it, our students will be disconnected both visually, and auditorily. Please help us connect ALL STUDENTS!
