Students in younger grades will use the 3Doodler pens to make 3-D tangrams that they can use both at home and in school to practice understanding shapes and then use them to critically think about solving shape related puzzles.
Our students in grades 3-5 will use the pens to model atoms, cells, and the geography of the ocean floor. These concepts are too small or too large to be seen in the classroom, that is why it is imperative that students create 3-D models in order to understand science and math concepts that they can not physically see in the confines or our classroom.
With the Covid-19 pandemic, it is vital that I provide safe-sanitation practices for using tools in my classroom. Therefore, it is important for the students to each have their own pen because they can not share any supplies. A kit of pens and filament will allow me to do both engaging learning of math and science through a hands-on approach, but also practice safe Covid-19 practices.
