These books will help to start a book club that promotes social and emotional learning in the participants and helps participants in the book club reach out to others to understand and help.
This book club will focus on books that promote problem solving, acceptance, kindness and friendship. Students who participate in the book club will be able to annotate their books and then keep the books. When students add books to their at-home book collection, reading interest skyrockets.
We will have before school meetings in which we talk about the books and discuss social and emotional themes in the books. We will put action projects into place like writing uplifting notes and leaving these notes around the school and sharing messages of hope.
