Many students within my classes experience things through touch. While instruments such as maracas, tambourines & rhythm sticks are used in the music room not all students enjoy the loud nature of these instruments. Adding Scarves to my lessons have been extremely successful in my classroom. I would love to have more options for students that offer a quiet way for them to participate while listening to the music.
Using texture can help emphasize the difference between smooth legato music versus disconnected staccato music. It allows students to have a variety of ways to connect to music and choose which way they want to experience sound.
