I teach K-8 Spanish at a charter school. I teach 3 middle school classes. My approach to teaching Spanish is vastly different than the way I learned. I use a method called TPRS (Teaching Spanish through Reading and Storytelling). Using this method requires me to use novels as a tool to aid students in acquiring the language. The novels I use contain high frequency vocabulary structures and cognates taught in class. Novels are a great tool to help my students to acquire the language, which is not the same as learning the language. The purchase of these novels would aid my students in their acquisition of the Spanish language.
