Every teacher reaches their boiling point. For me, it's from late April to October. Our classroom does not have an adequate heating and cooling system, which causes a great deal of discomfort in the warmer months of the year. Our classroom in our nearly 100-year-old building is oriented in such a way that we get a great deal of sunlight. While beautiful, the classroom sometimes feels more like a greenhouse. I am asking for a portable air conditioner that will cool our classroom during these months.
As a teacher, it's painful to watch my students be made physically uncomfortable by the conditions of my classroom. I ask so much from them as a teacher and I would like to provide the best learning environment I can. Despite our multiple fans and closed blinds, students often report getting headaches due to the heat. I allow students to get water more frequently during these months because they become easily dehydrated while in my class. This results in students frequently coming in and out of the classroom and a loss of class time. I aim to make my classroom more of a learning sanctuary with this cooling system. Please consider donating to this project!
