My students are special ed., regular ed and inclusion students, all with math learning difficulties. Our families are hard working poor to middle class citizens who send their precious children to our school. Our school is a title one public school in NJ that serves approximately 450 pre-k and kindergarten students.
My school gives each teacher a very small budget that we have to use to buy all materials we need for the following school year, it's never enough money. I also have a lot of bilingual students which makes learning difficult for the child. For the most part, my intervention students have low self confidence because they are aware they don't know as much as their peers. This is something that I try to change one class at a time. I want my students to be extremely successful and to love kindergarten!
