My students are lucky enough to have laptops in the classroom; however, they do not have headphones. We have tried asking parents for some, but, due to their low incomes, they cannot afford them. Currently, we are rotating a set of five headphones that the students have complained are very uncomfortable. My bilingual students use the headphones for programs like Rosetta Stone, iReady, MobyMax online learning, and PARCC assessments (state testing). Technology is a major part of their learning, but, due to lack of resources, my students are not always excited about using the computers because of the noise level and lack of headphones.
