My first grade students attend a two-way Chinese immersion program. About half the class are non-native speakers of Chinese. While the other half of the students come from families that speak Chinese. In a typical day, these students spend 80% of their day learning the district’s core curriculum in Chinese. The other 20% of the day is dedicated only to English.
