I'm very fortunate to teach fourth grade in a Language Arts and Social Justice magnet school. Our focus is the respect of self and others and this encompasses discipline, high expectations as well as activism and compassion. African American students usually make up 60% of our classes along with Latino children and a few Asian and Caucasian kids. This situation offers unlimited opportunities to learn tolerance and collaboration while discovering new perspectives. However, our public school and our families can't afford the sources we need to significantly support student 21st century skills. Thank you for your kind support and enthusiasm for education!
