I do not expect my students to be able to sit in a chair at a desk all day. Those days are gone! I want them to know I will do what it takes to help them succeed. 2/3 of my students prefer alternative seating options over traditional desks and chairs while they independently work and read. Therefore, I am requesting proper seating that fits their individual needs.
Once my students understand how they learn best, they will be empowered by their own success. I have seen this first hand by just taking legs off desks for my students who prefer to sit on the floor. I noticed immediately these students were able to maintain their focus during independent tasks for longer periods of time as well as an improvement in their behavior. I want to give my students who prefer and/or need to stand and those who move in their seats those options!
Some of my very active students who find it difficult to sit still have broken the traditional chairs through wiggling and rocking. I am requesting four wobble stools and two rocking chairs to provide them with a safer option to wiggle, rock, and move as they please while they independently work and read at their desks.
Other students prefer to stand at their desks to work, but have to lean over since the desks are not at the proper height. The four standing desk conversion kits would allow me to raise the height of their existing desks so they can be more comfortable while they work.
Finally, I am requesting two pillows so my students who work best on the floor will have something soft to sit on.
Thank you in advance for considering my request!
