My students have learning disabilities in reading and math. Some may have dyslexia. Many are dual-identified as being English Language learners and having a learning disability. I plan to use the business cards to make drill decks so that they can learn their sounds as well as their letters in an emotionally sound way. This helps them to transfer the learning into their long-term memory. The letters and numbers that are tactile will help them to feel the letters as they are using their gross motor skills to practice saying their letters and sounds.
Many of my students struggle to learn to read and are often down on themselves because reading is difficult. I want them to be successful in reading so that they can feel confident and do whatever they choose to do. They can be successful given the right instruction!
