Our students come from high poverty socio-economic background. They are eager to learn but are sometimes faced with many stumbling blocks that take away their educational focus. We have to help our students to endure and teach them how to build their EQ (Emotional Quotient). My goal every day is to take their minds off of their personal situation and keep them engaged, to give them an out of body experience through the vehicle of science. We are all faced with some type of hardship or emotional turmoil. But we all have to learn how to control situations so it does not control us. Children need to know they are not alone.
