We are thrilled to once again offer music at our Charter School in Chicago. That said, we have very few instruments in the music room for the children to explore. Currently, most of our music time is spent singing. While this is great, I want to expand my students' experience beyond their voices.
With a classroom set of tuned xylophones, we can play simple songs, work in unison or parts, and apply both rhythmic and melodic concepts to an instrument that is easy to play. For some of my students, this will be their very first experience playing an acoustic instrument. I want that moment to be fun and educational. This grant will provide a matching set of instruments for my entire primary level of students.
