Our students would love to take home a book of their very own from each and every book fair or from the internet book stores like Amazon. In most cases, students are able to interact with a book for only 1-2 weeks before it must be returned to the school or public library. If our students could begin their own personal home library with a book such as Quarterback Scramble or Big Nate, and engage in book discussions among others in their grade level, they would be more likely to pursue reading similar authors and genres.
Once students shop for a book of their choice and make a powerful commitment to read the book they choose, then they will participate in a book club and make meaningful connections with their peers through face to face sharing and discussions.
