Our 1st Grade Team will be using a variety of picture books of different genres to support our students’ vocabulary, comprehension, writing, grammar, and phonics skills. Picture books like Ida Always, The Radiant Child and The Koala Who Could not only support our targeted literacy skills, but they also teach a life lesson. I believe one of the best ways to increase a student’s love of reading is to provide a variety of books for them to explore. Picture books play a critical role in learning, helping students develop self-awareness and teaching them how to make connections and inferences. This project will increase their exposure to other genres and build a foundation for reading success.

About my class
