My students need tools to really experience math, to feel the excitement that comes from building understanding, and these tools will accomplish that! Students will use the clocks to showcase their knowledge of real and elapsed time, and also to show how they think about time. The place value tools will help students articulate connections within our place value system so they can build their number sense and think through more challenging relationships. The geometric building tools will help students to really see how shapes are related to each other and why they have specific attributes.
All students are mathematicians; they just "see" math differently and the flexibility of these tools will help my 2nd graders feel confident thinking through a variety of math situations!
