Imagine a world shaped by digital technology. Well, we are living in one! It will only get newer from here. With the global market evolving into a digitally-based format, our students are enrolled in and learning to adapt early through high school courses like Audio/Video Production, Coding, and Video Game Design. In my classroom, the computer lab is equipped to expose students to these emerging technologies in innovative ways. The only drawback is, some equipment is not up to speed with gaming, creative media, and user content. Basic keyboards lack the shortcuts, speed, and color coding that supports efficiency and fast-paced learning in these tech courses. If I had the right equipment, the time spent troubleshooting and replacing worn equipment could be utilized in teaching. My students would gain a more realistic and efficient learning experience. For most of them, personal financial means limit their ability to use these types of products and school is their only exposure. I know they will be more prepared with practice using up to date equipment, increasing the likelihood of a fair chance at a related career in the future.
