My students will benefit from selecting their own seating. Flexible seating will allow students with different learning styles to process the information in class in the way that is most constructive.
Every student is unique and should be allowed to use those differences rather than penalized because of them. Learning environments should be places of comfort and peace. Many students cannot sit all day in a desk and perform task after task. The items requested such as the Wobble Chairs would enable students who have sensory issues to sit and still wiggle without disturbing others. The stools will be used with the bookcases to form tables. These tables allow students the choice of standing or kneeling because some students need to stand over their work in order to perform better. The inflatable chairs are for kids who just need a place to sit where they feel like they are relaxed and in a home setting. Each of the items will allow students to have flexible seating choices.
In my classroom, I want students to learn how to self-monitor and be in charge of their own learning. Flexible seating options will give students these opportunities. I hope to see a decrease in behavior issues and increase in academic performance by implementing this new type of seating in my classroom.
