My students are predominately English Language Learners. They live in one of the most disadvantaged areas of our city, where 97% are getting free or reduced lunch. Several of them live in a homeless shelter. I am determined to be their role model and greatest supporter. My students give everything they have and don't ask for much but love and attention. I could not have asked for a better group of students. Their smiles every morning light up my heart and those around them. Their energy and enthusiasm for learning is amazing considering the odds that are against them in their neighborhood. I know that each one of my students will be an important person in society when they are older because they are important to me right now... I would not change them for any other group of students.
