I teach in a small district that is comprised of only four schools. Students in our district start kindergarten with the same classmates they will walk across the stage with as graduating seniors. At the elementary school we serve around 586 students from different backgrounds. I teach math and science to 50 3rd grade boys and girls who are always eager to learn new things. I want my students to be exposed to real world math and science experiences through technology, hands on activities, and collaboration. Because our school is located in a high poverty area our budget to purchase these quality materials is very limited. All students deserve to have a 21st century education to ensure college and career readiness.
