The children in my first grade classroom come from a variety of backgrounds and carry with them different experiences. They come from homes of varied incomes, as well as races. Two things that they all have in common though, are that they are eager to learn and curious about the world around them. They learn best from experiences that are authentic and provide them with hands-on opportunities.
