For the past three years, we have been developing a STEAM garden at the back of our school. It has a fence, raised beds, pathways, and some nice plants. One essential item our garden does not have is a stationary water source. Students have hauled water for the past 3 years from the building, which is about 50 yards away, to water plants. The addition of a rain barrel would help make the students' job of watering easier while also teaching a lesson on sustainability. One of the student's ultimate goals is to grow a crop large enough to harvest and donate to our local soup kitchen to help feed the hungry.
