As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these challenges, my students are sweet, kind-hearted and energetic. They get really excited when we do hands-on activities or when they get to move around. Over 90% of students come from a low-income household, and receive free or reduced lunch. School is a place for them to learn and explore in the comfort of their "home away from home".
