I teach in a rural Mississippi school in Saucier, Mississippi, ten miles north of Gulfport. My school serves a varied population of families including a large number of military families as well numerous who live in low-income situations. Over seventy percent of our student population participates in the free or reduced meal program at school.
All of our students are highly motivated, and the school is a very high performing one. Students and teachers are held to extremely high standards so that our students' growth goals are met and so that our school performance level can be maintained. Despite these high standards, our hallways are filled with smiles, with kindness, love, and support, and with students and teachers eager to help one another be their best selves.
