Today's classrooms are becoming more and more project based and many teachers assume that students have colored printers at home. My students need this colored printer and ink so that they can create high quality projects that are competitive to their peers who have these resources at home.
I want to create a coffee house atmosphere in my Special Education/AVID classes because I believe this will reduces the stigma for many of the students coming into my room. My students live in a world where they often have less than their peers. High school students live in coffee houses, they get coffee before school and they study at Starbucks after school. My students are often not able to afford these luxuries and I'd like to create an environment that allows them to feel more like their peers.
