My class consists of gifted, inclusion, and general education students. All of my students are excited for the 2015-16 school, though some of my students have struggled with learning and do not believe they are "good" readers. One of my "Get to Know You" questions for the first day of school was "What is your favorite chapter book". A surprising number of my students did not answer this question. When I asked some of them why, they said they have never read a chapter book. Some said chapter books are too hard. After this I went through my classroom library and the reading room in our school and realized both are outdated and lacking many interesting titles.
After this I sent my students to the computer told them to find chapter books that they would enjoy reading. They helped me compile our shopping list.
