I am a 1st grade teacher in Aztec, New Mexico. I work in a TITLE 1 low income school district. I have a very diverse classroom consisting of many different ethnic backgrounds. I have students requiring special education, students who receive TITLE 1 reading coaching services, and students who receive TITLE VI Native American academic assistance. I have 2 ELL (English language learners) who speak only Spanish at home. I have one student whose parents cannot read or write. I also have students who receive speech therapy, students who receive occupational therapy, and students who are on behavior plans. The majority of my students come into First Grade below grade level and struggle academically. One hundred percent of the students in our school are on free lunch for the 2017-2018 school year.
100% of my students are on free lunch program and their parents do not send them to school with a snack. I teach 6 and 7 year old kids who a growing very quickly. It is very important for these students to have snacks everyday! I would love to be able to provide a snack for my students!
