Toys like the barn, the kitchen set, the baby doll, or the Fisher-Price Little People Surprise and Sound home set, are toys provide them with language rich opportunities to use language that also generalizes into their various classrooms, as well as their home environment. These materials will help my students engage in pretend play with toys that provide the opportunity for them to learn functional vocabulary, appropriate sentence structure, different types of words like nouns, verbs, and prepositions. For example, playing in the house, students learn vocabulary that is specific to their home, they learn different actions that occur in a home, as well as pretend play skills that help them engage socially with their peers.
