I teach at a school where a majority of our students are on free or reduced lunch. My classroom is a Regular classroom where the 5th grade students come from various backgrounds such as second language learners, health impaired, learning impaired, and have little parental involvement. Many of my students not only struggle with language but also have learning disabilities. It can be very difficult for these students to keep up with the standards and curriculum with the challenges they face. Despite their language and disabilities, they are some of the sweetest and hardest working students I have met. No matter what obstacle they face, they put forth 100% effort to try and attain their goal.
