The LEGOS and minifigs I am requesting will offer students with special needs the opportunity to extend what they are learning, adopt a visual-kinesthetic approach to projects, build fine motor skills, and build social skills. Students with special needs often need explicit instruction in areas such as learning the importance of following a sequence or implicit instruction and opportunities to build social and play skills through sharing materials and practicing turn-taking. Students with special needs benefit from manipulatives, and these sets will provide manipulatives for students to practice what they are learning and extend their learning through interactions in the school setting.
