When meeting with students, calming and sensory items help to provide a safe space to practice social skills, process emotions, and explore mental health needs. In the past, I have purchased many wonderful products that assist in this area. COVID-19 presents some unique challenges as we return to school this fall. I have been working to gather materials needed to make students on my caseload their own individual calming/sensory boxes and avoid spreading germs. The lessons covered during sessions are integral to both individual and community-wide mental wellness as we work to improve social and emotional health one student at a time!
