I currently teach science at a Title I middle school in Ventura, CA. While I've always taught hands-on science, I'm starting to transform my classroom from a place where students are simply consumers of science to a place where they are science and technology creators. We're making this shift through science-based engineering challenges, engaging in citizen science, connecting our learning to real world issues, and bringing in local community organizations to partner with.
