Students really learn by doing and science is the perfect class to really let students investigate and form understandings about the world around them. The problem is that this type of learning requires supplies that we simply don't have money for. Can you teach a child to be a good baseball player by having them read about it or watch a video about it? When I can't get materials I need through the school or from my own pocket, I am stuck with worksheets or computer simulations. I am trying to cultivate independent, critical thinkers and they need hands-on experiences for that.
