I have twenty students in my pre-kindergarten class who are learning to read. They enjoy being read to and need to transition to reading aloud. They lack confidence because they struggle with letter-sound relationships. "If it's not broken, don't fix it" is a familiar adage and embodies the essence of the benefit of a listening center. If we somehow "disconnect" from the letters and their appropriate sounds, we will continue to error in our ways. "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is designed to give students the opportunity to hear modeled fluency and to see it as well in those DVDs that have visible letters and words. Students will be able to connect to the words, their sounds, and corresponding pictures through using the CD/DVD player and wireless headsets that give students an option for the tactile/kinesthetic modality to move without inhibitions. My little scholars love learning & I love helping them learn new things!!
