My students would benefit from getting out of their wheelchairs and into a multi-sensory experience. This will help prevent pressure sores and improve mobility and exploration. These students need to be able to explore their environment in a safe space.
I would like to provide sensory engaging activities for these students rather than having them sit in a chair all day pretending to absorb high school lecture material. The cozy covers will help to block off the harsh classroom lighting. A large fluff chair would offer a more comfortable place to sit/recline. The vibrating toys will provide proprioceptive feedback as well as offer a great tactile stimulus. The equipment will be used to support their needs with vibration, pressure, smooth and rough surfaces, squishy and hard objects, and places to stretch out and move freely. Please help me make this much needed sensory room happen!
